NEWTOWN REGENERATION – SBC UPDATE Nov 2009

1. NEWTOWN ST BOSWELLS DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

Scottish Borders Council is progressing with the draft Development Framework outlining key land use/ access options and opportunities for the village as a totality, as well as options for the village centre and key sites within the village. The draft Development Framework will be presented to the community for consultation in early December. Dates will be published shortly.


2. LOCAL PLAN AMENDMENT CONSULTATION

A report was presented to Council on 20 August, which set out the proposals for the Local Plan Amendment and specifically in relation to Newtown St Boswells. The finalised Local Plan Amendment will be subject to formal consultation for a period of 6 weeks starting towards the end of September/early October.

This process will begin once the plan has been printed and formally advertised. At that stage the Council will inform its consultees (including those who have made a representation on the draft Local Plan Amendment) by letter at the start of the consultation period. 3. PLANNING APPLICATIONS

3A. Outline Planning Application - Buccleuch Property & Elphinstone Estates Ltd

An outline planning application submission for Buccleuch Property and Elphinstone Estates Ltd has been received and was presented for consultation on 28/8/09. The outline planning application (reference: 09/01005/OUT) includes the erection of 900 dwellinghouses as well as associated infrastructure, highway works, ancillary works and landscaping. Consultation responses have been received from a range of agencies through the statutory consultation process. These are all available to view on the Public Access System on the Council’s website.
