As a lead into the opening ceremony, the gathering was entertained by St Boswells Concert Band, who played a series of stirring tunes.

Major General Sinclair addressed those present and thanked all those whose efforts have led to this improved route.

Cllr Riddell-Carre, having cut the ribbon, then joined the large number present in walking down the new path to the riverside.

Present, also, was the team leader of the Dovetail Group which did so much of the work, and members of the Five Parishes Path Group, the instigators.
