SCARY STUFF AT NEWTOWN - A frightening time was had by all !!!
Yet again, the village excelled itself at halloween, by putting on their annual ghost walk. 237 men, women and children came along to join in the fun.
Trying to beat last years success was going to be difficult; but the many ghosts and ghouls excelled themselves. There were far too many people this year for me to thank individually. It was amazing how many helpers we got when it came to traumatising children. A special thank you must go to Swanns Mart for letting us use the pens and the selling ring. A medival court was set up inside where the dreggs of Newtown society were brought to justice, with one poor witch losing her head!!! The judge and the grim reaper presided over the court, and held us all captivated, especially when the chainsaw came out for the beheading!!
Another special thanks goes to Mrs Gordon at Whitehill, who allowed us to walk through the woods and down past her house, she was even brave enough to stand outside and hand out sweeties to everyone. We had leprachauns hiding in trees, bodies swinging from branches, ghosts strung from railway bridges, glow sticks attached to our loan piper: a lot of work from a lot of people. It was safe to say, there were a lot of daddies who looked a lot more like mummies that night!!!
Back in the Community Centre there was hot dogs and hot chocolate for all. And rest assured the ghosts began to look scarier as the night wore on!!
So I will finish with the biggest thank you to all from the village who came along with family and friends. It was a fun family night out. One that hopefully will be repeated again next year - so please keep up your support by coming along to our events.
