More Newtown road disruption !!

Road works is to take place on Church Hill, to lay drainage on behalf of the developer building new houses at Church Triangle. The road will be affected for about 80m outside the church and telephone exchange. The intention is for the work, expected to last for three weeks, to be carried out under traffic lights. SBC Contracts agreed that it is unfortunate that this coincides with traffic lights at the north end of Newtown for gas pipeline work.

It has been agreed is to get the work completed soon but with the provisos firstly that the traffic lights are manned at all busy times, including market days, to prevent traffic building up and secondly that SBC Contracts checks with the developer to ensure that if possible other services are installed to Church Triangle at the same time to minimise disruption.
