Name - Contrary to the obvious, Newtown is very old. It is recorded in 1529, when it was already a well established community. Previously it has been known as Newtoune, Newtown of Eildon, Neuton and Newtown of Dryburgh.

Graveyard Record - There is no graveyard or burial ground at Newtown St Boswells.

St Cuthbert's Way also passes through Newtown St. Boswells, on its way from Melrose to Lindisfarne.
